We advance the leadership of women and youth in peace, security and political processes — aligned with UNSCR 1325 (WPS) and 2250 (YPS). Our work expands safe and meaningful participation, builds advocacy and negotiation capacities, and links local voices to national and international tracks.

From Active Participation to Leadership and Impact
In the conflict-affected Yemeni context, simply inviting women and youth to attend activities or consultations is not enough to make their participation impactful. Active participation requires knowledge, trust, continuous spaces, and platforms capable of organizing voices and turning them into initiatives, advocacy, and influence in public life.
Through this pillar, Sheba Youth Foundation for Development links the participation of women and youth to peacebuilding, civic and political leadership, culture, knowledge production, and economic and digital empowerment. This pillar is not presented as a set of scattered projects, but as a strategic path that promotes transition from presence to action, from training to initiative, and from local initiatives to broader impact.

Platforms & Networks Amplifying Participation
This pillar reflects the capacity of Sheba Youth Foundation to transform program tracks into sustainable spaces for coordination, learning, advocacy, and community leadership.
The Youth Support Group (YSG) was formed in October 2021 under Sheba Youth Foundation for Development, with support from Save the Children - MEEE, as a coalition of six youth coalitions. It aims to unify youth voices around peacebuilding and political participation in Yemen. The group has advocated for meaningful youth engagement in peace processes, including discussions related to the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, and has produced analytical and policy papers on youth participation in peace and political processes.
Analytical Report - YSG, SYF, and SCI | The Missing Track policy paper
The Political Parties Youth Alliance was launched with support from the National Democratic Institute (NDI) to strengthen youth political engagement across partisan lines. Sheba Youth Foundation for Development later contributed to nurturing and developing the alliance, supporting young women and men from political parties in dialogue, negotiation, political leadership, and conflict management, and helping strengthen youth participation in civic life and more inclusive decision-making.
The Rural Peace Forum is an emerging local space designed to amplify rural women’s voices in peacebuilding and community participation. In partnership with Oxfam and with support from DANIDA, Sheba Youth Foundation for Development accompanied rural women through a gradual pathway from learning and confidence-building to dialogue with local authorities and political leaders at district and governorate levels, and later engagement with national-level officials.
The Cultural Council for Arts and Literature in Taiz was launched as an initiative under Sheba Youth Foundation for Development, serving as a coordination space that brings together cultural, artistic, and heritage actors within a more organized framework for coordination, representation, and networking. The council responds to Taiz’s rich cultural landscape and the need for stronger institutional coordination and visibility, aiming to support cultural governance and strengthen the role of culture in peace and community identity.
